AccuWeather's new podcasts: Get a behind-the-scenes peek into the world of weather, receive top daily trending stories

AccuWeather has recently launched two new audio products − AccuWeather Weekly and AccuWeather Daily podcasts − offering listeners insight on both the stories behind the weather and the daily top weather-related stories on AccuWeather.com, respectively.

"Podcasts give you a little bit of a chance to do storytelling and sharing information in a deeper way," said AccuWeather's Director of Broadcasting and Information Services and weekly podcast co-producer, Ken Prehl. "We just thought it was natural for AccuWeather to start its own podcasts."

The AccuWeather Weekly launched in April, and AccuWeather Daily became available for download in late May 2018.

How to listen to AccuWeather Weekly

Hosted by 20-year television and radio broadcast veteran Regina Miller, the 20- to 30-minute AccuWeather Weekly delves into behind-the-scenes details on trending weather topics, historical weather events and AccuWeather Ready safety tips through interviews with experts from all facets of the weather industry.

"AccuWeather Weekly provides information beyond the basic weather story of the day," Miller said. "We have the time to get a little more involved in talking to the experts instead of just a quick quote or soundbite."

In this episode of AccuWeather Weekly, AccuWeather broadcaster Karuska Matos-Horta shares her personal experience living through Hurricane Maria.

Weekly podcast guests have included specialists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Royal Meteorological Society as well as AccuWeather's own in-house experts, including AccuWeather Senior Vice President and Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.

Touted as the perfect blend of science and storytelling, a key goal of AccuWeather Weekly is to attract the attention of the average listener as well as the weather enthusiast through relevant, engaging and interesting content every week, according to Prehl. "It's a chance for us to tell some of the amazing stories that AccuWeather has from the more than 55 years of our history here."

AccuWeather Weekly explores a different weather topic each week, ranging from weather accuracy in movies like the 1996 blockbuster, "Twister"; a look back at significant weather events, including the devastating Great Hurricane of 1900; and a peek into the lives of AccuWeather meteorologists.

"It's a way for people to get a whole different perspective on some of their favorite personalities, like The AccuWeather Network broadcasters Bernie Rayno and Laura Velasquez," said AccuWeather Radio Broadcaster and Information Specialist Andrew Robb, who also co-produces The AccuWeather Podcast.
