BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of driving under the influence of a drug in a Valentine’s Day crash that injured four people was transported to a state hospital Wednesday, where she’ll receive treatment to restore her to competency.

Found not competent to stand trial, Joanna Bojorquez-Higuera, 29, was also ordered to be given involuntary psychotropic medication, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Bojorquez-Higuera was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of a drug and speeding through a red light at the intersection of California and Chester avenues, crashing into other vehicles and injuring four people. One person suffered fractured ribs and tailbone, another a broken collarbone.

She has two prior DUI convictions.

When interviewed at Kern Medical, Bojorquez-Higuera became aggressive and demanded her cellphone when told she was under arrest, police reports say. She also made bizarre statements, telling an officer, “I have no bones.”
