Accidental fire heavily damages Hickory home and vehicles

HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Hickory Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on the 200 block of 21st Street around 11 a.m. Monday.

When crews arrived, they reported heavy fire coming from the rear of the house. After confirming that no occupants were inside the building, the fire worked to extinguish the fire.

The department responded with three engines, one ladder, a rescue truck and two command units. Catawba County EMS and Hickory police were also on scene.

The fire was under control by 11:54 a.m.

Heavy damages were reported to the house and three vehicles.

No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is assisting the residents.

Investigators determined that the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical issue.
