What is the acceptance rate at University of California San Diego?

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — College is on the minds of many students who are weighing their options on where to further their education.

For those with their sights on the San Diego area, the question seems to be: what is the acceptance rate for colleges like the University of California San Diego?

What is San Diego State University’s acceptance rate?

According to the university’s admissions data, the average high school GPA for 25 to 75 percent of those accepted was between 4.11 and 4.29. This isn’t to say those with lesser GPAs won’t be considered though.

Data collected from ranking and review site Niche, shows the GPA of those accepted and those rejected widely varied. Niche’s scatterplot graph, however, shows a lot of acceptance in the 4.0 range, as many may expect.

With over 130,800 freshman applicants, the university noted that it admits about 32,300 students, with an overall admit rate of 24.7%.

As for transfer students, the university said it admits about 12,400 individuals out of almost 20,000 applicants — making for a 62.4% acceptance rate for transfers.

The admissions application deadline is Nov. 30 and the applying cost is $70. According to Niche, a high school transcript with GPA and college prep courses are required to be considered.
