Acadiana supports SOLA Giving Day in record numbers, raises over $2 million
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Acadiana’s natural generosity was on display Thursday, SOLA Giving Day 2024, with nearly $2 million raised for local charities and nonprofits.
As of 2 p.m. Friday, over 200 organizations received $2,032,564 made possible by 5,034 donations, a new record amount. The previous record was set last year with $1,815,079 going out to 207 organizations made possible by 4,685 donations.
The 24-hour online fundraising event was held for nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools who serve South Louisiana. SOLA Giving Day is hosted by Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) for any local nonprofit organization that would like to participate.
Ragin’ Cajun Catholics raised the most of any organization, with $183,412. Hope for Opelousas had the largest number of donors with 242.
