Acadiana Eats: Johnson’s Boucanière in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– Johnson’s Boucanière in Downtown Lafayette is bringing all the meats in today’s edition of Acadiana Eats.
They showed News 10 how they put together their zydeco special and their homemade boudin with a little kick.
Acadiana native known for cooking videos releases her own Cajun seasoning
Located at 1111 St John St., Johnson’s Boucanière serves smoked meats, BBQ, boudin, plate lunches and sandwiches.
The business’ story began at Johnson’s Grocery in Eunice, a dry goods store and specialty meats market. The store was well known for its famous boudin, smoked sausage, Tasso and Cajun specialty meats, even becoming the first dry goods store to commercially sell boudin in the 1940s.

Acadiana Eats
The dry goods store was opened in 1937 by Arneastor Johnson and his daughter, Marie Johnson Fruge. After five generations of the Johnson family worked at the store, Lori Johnson Walls, Arneastor Johnson’s granddaughter, opened Johnson’s Boucanière in 2008.
Johnson’s Boucanière is opened Wednesdays through Fridays 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The business is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
