Absentee ballot request deadline is March 18

Mar. 13—There's only a few days left to request an absentee ballot for the April 2 election

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18. Completed ballots must be returned to the Grady County Election Board no later than 7 p.m. on April 2.

Voters may apply for absentee ballots online using the OK Voter Portal at

oklahoma.gov/elections.html or download an absentee ballot request form from the Oklahoma State Election Board website.

The Oklahoma State Election Board also lists several locations in Grady County that offer free notary services for absentee ballots. Notary services are available at the Chickasha Public Library as well as most First National Bank & Trust locations, Liberty National Bank in Chickasha, Great Plains Bank and Sooner State Bank in Tuttle.

There are multiple municipal and school elections on the ballot for the Grady County area, which may include parts of Caddo and McClain Counties.

There are races for three Chickasha City Council seats. Incumbent Kea Ginn will run against David C. Lucas for the Ward 1 seat. Daniel Terry will run against Charlie Burruss for Ward 2. There are three candidates for the Ward 4 seat: John P. Smith, Isaac DeLeon and Eric Joseph Anderson.

Several schools in the Grady County area have school board seats up for grabs including: Dibble, Blanchard, Alex, Minco, Fletcher, Canadian Valley Technology Center and Cement.

As for proportions, the City of Minco has a hotel tax on the ballot while Cement Public Schools is asking residents to vote on a $4.2 million bond for new construction.
