ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Texas native and longtime Abilenian Dan Huggins’s life forever changed four years ago when he moved to Missouri to work for the Kansas City Chiefs as a ‘Supervisor of Fans First.’

“Just kinda being there in the stadium and helping people find their way and answer questions and that sort of thing,” said Huggins.

Not everyone can say they worked for the Chiefs, but Huggins and his wife Kim both did.

“We sure enjoyed our time there with the chiefs,” shared Huggins.

After scoring big last season, the couple decided to retire and received the ultimate gift.

NFL legacies on the line in 49ers-Chiefs Super Bowl

“And then at the end of the last season after we won the Superbowl. We were given Superbowl rings, and we thought that was probably time to hang it up,” explained Huggins.

They chose to spend their time with a young Chief’s fan… Their granddaughter.

“We’re in Kansas City with a grandbaby and enjoying being with her,” said Huggins.

49ers the favorites but most bets still on the Chiefs

Now that they are just fans, Huggins said the Chiefs’ kingdom can be superstitious, but he will always be a Texan at heart.

“I have a Patrick Mahomes jersey that I wore, and they got beat, so I don’t wear that anymore, gamedays. So, the Cowboys are my number one team, and I always loved them and will continue to love them. They’re number one,” expressed Huggins.

Like many across America, Huggins has also seen a growth of people interested in football.

“Taylor Swift has really added a new dimension both to the Chiefs and NFL football. I think football has gained a lot of fans who have never watched football up to this year,” explained Huggins.

Huggins said the ring will be one of his most prized possessions.

“They did win the big game, so we got rings, and we love them, and it will be something that we will treasure, and our family will treasure,” said Huggins.
