Abilene man stuck, killed Saturday night by vehicle on South First

Another pedestrian has died on Abilene streets, and on a familiar one.

Gabriel Xavier Deleon, 25, of Abilene struck and killed in the 3400 block of South First Street about 10 p.m. Saturday, according to Abilene police.

The four-lane street has been the scene of several pedestrian-vehicle collisions the past few years.

Jennifer Lee Lewis, 45, was eastbound on South First when her vehicle struck Deleon. Police were called at 10:06 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sparky Dean.

A police report did not list any citations but the accident is under investigation.

In October, three people died in separate crashes in three days while in October, two people in Taylor County were struck and killed by trains.
