ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Young Professionals (AYP) branch of the Chamber of Commerce announced its 2024 class of 20 Under 40 on Monday. This is a list of influential active members of the community younger than 40 years of age.

Cameron Sloan, talent and emerging business specialist with the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, told KTAB/KRBC AYP’s 20 Under 40 is one of many ways the chamber spotlights greatness within the city.

One recipient, Mallory Wilcox with Big Brothers Big Sisters, said she likes to make her impact on the Key City through children at the nonprofit.

“It’s just a great tight-knit community. It means I get to build more relationships with folks in town, and just drive them to be a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Wilcox boasted.

But, Wilcox isn’t the only 20 Under 40 making an impact in young Abilene lives. Cooper High School boys basketball coach, Michael Bacon was also honored for giving back to his community.

“It’s really more about the people who helped me get in this position today,” said Bacon. “There’s a lot of former players, that I’ve coached, that have helped us win games. That helped me get this job, that helped me get in this position to receive any notoriety. It’s about them and not about me.”

Nominations and votes for AYP’s 20 Under 40 were made open to the public, then taken to a board of a classes past for a final selection of this year’s honorees. The 2024 class of 20 Under 40 will get to celebrate alongside friends, family, and fellow recipients at Chamber of Commerce-hosted event in February.
