AAA says Texas retail gasoline prices fall 5 cents

AAA says Texas retail gasoline prices down 5 cents this week, national price drops by 6 cents

HOUSTON (AP) -- Retail gasoline prices across Texas have fallen by a nickel a gallon for the second straight week.

AAA Texas says the average statewide gas price stands at $3.34 as a projected 2.4 million Texans take to the road for Fourth of July getaways.

Drivers in Dallas are paying the most at $3.40 a gallon while those in Amarillo are seeing the lowest average price at $3.21.

AAA says the national average is $3.48, a drop of 6 cents from last week.

Analysts say gas supplies are at their highest levels for this time of year in more than two decades. That's pushed retail prices down despite the rising cost of crude oil.
