A total of nine people were injured Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Carmichael, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department reported.

The collision occurred about 2:30 p.m. on the 5000 block of Cypress Avenue near Walnut Avenue, Metro Fire spokesman Capt. Parker Wilbourn said. Two children were transported to hospitals with critical injuries. One, a 9-year-old girl, went to Mercy San Juan hospital while a 14-year-old boy was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, according to dispatch reports.
