8th Graders at Centennial Middle School fundraising for Meals on Wheels

DENVER (KDVR) — A group of students at Centennial Middle School are hosting a fundraiser for their health class to help people with food insecurity in Boulder.

Three eighth graders, Maggie Dwight, Tula Delaney and Evi Grabski, are raising money for Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit organization that delivers meals to people in Boulder who are unable to prepare meals or go grocery shopping themselves.

“Food stability is when a person has access to food at all times, when they have food in the pantry or the fridge. While you may think that a lot of people have that and can make meals, that is not always the case,” Maggie said. “Lots of people in Boulder don’t have access to the amazing food we have.”

According to a release from Meals on Wheels, one of every eight people in Boulder County are food insecure and need help making meals or buying groceries

The group is hoping to raise $2,000 for Meals on Wheels of Boulder.

“They really make an impact on people’s lives and that is why we are raising money for them,” Maggie said.

People can donate to the GoFundMe, and all the funds donated will go to Meals on Wheels of Boulder. Meals on Wheels said every donation of any amount will help to make an impact.
