87 Whitehaven students receive $1M+ in scholarships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Eighty-seven students at Whitehaven High School have joined the prestigious “Million Dollar Scholars” status, receiving more than $1 million each in academic scholarships.

Students announced their college choices at an event Thursday morning at the school.

“My name is Sheileah Jones and I have accumulated one million and one hundred, twenty-eight thousand dollars in academic scholarships.”

Sheileah Jones, a senior at Whitehaven High School, accumulated $1,128,000 in scholarships.

She said it has been a challenging four years after starting high school during COVID-19.

“Tenth-grade year I came, it was kind of a new experience because I did not know anyone here. Junior year, I started getting more comfortable and now my senior year I am ending it off at the top,” Jones said.

She will be attending Clark Atlanta University in the fall with a scholarship in fashion — something her mom is very grateful for.
