5.5-mile back-up on I-81N in Augusta County now cleared

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – VDOT reports the 5.5-mile back-up on I-81N in Augusta County has been cleared.

All lanes of traffic are now open.

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia Department of Transportation says there is currently a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 81 North near mile marker 229 in Augusta County.

Exit 94B North reopened after crash on I-81 in Pulaski County

Traffic is backed up around 5.5 miles and the northbound lane and shoulder are currently closed. Drivers can expect delays until further notice.

Motional has pushed its plan to launch a commercial driverless robotaxi service — meaning no human safety operator on board — to 2026, two years later than planned. The company told employees Tuesday during an all-hands meeting that the changes will include layoffs, but did not provide a figure of how many people would be affected, according to sources who spoke to TechCrunch on condition of anonymity.
