80-year-old woman dies after striking car, crashing into utility pole in Pasco County

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — An 80-year-old woman has died after she struck another car in Pasco County Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:02 a.m. when a Kia Forte, traveling northbound on Little Road, turned into the path of the 80-year-old New Port Richey woman at the intersection of San Miguel.

FHP said the driver of the Kia, a 20-year-old Hudson man, turned left into the path of the woman, who was driving south on Little Road in a Ford Crown Victoria. The woman struck the 20-year-old as a result.

Following the collision, the Kia and the Ford rotated to a final stop in the southbound lanes and west shoulder. However, after stopping on the shoulder, the 80-year-old’s car struck a utility pole.

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The 20-year-old sustained minor injuries from the crash.

Authorities have not released the identities of the two drivers, and no other information was released.
