8 drivers stopped at Hanford DUI checkpoint

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Hanford Police Department held a DUI checkpoint on Sunday, stopping five drivers for various issues – including one for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, according to the police department.

Officers say the checkpoint was at 10th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on April 21. They say 606 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

According to police, one driver was found to be unlicensed, one was driving with a suspended license, five didn’t have their licenses present and one driver was cited for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Police say the DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related arrests and crashes.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
