$7K worth of tools stolen from Crestwood construction site: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An Affton woman is accused of stealing more than $7,800 worth of tools from a construction site in Crestwood last December.

According to the Crestwood Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft occurred just after 12:10 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2023, on Watson Road, just west of South Sappington Road.

Police claim various video surveillance systems show a silver 2002 Ford Explorer drive behind an Aldi grocery store, which is next to a construction site for an Ollie’s discount store.

Just after 12:35 a.m., the Explorer is seen driving away from the area with its headlights off. The driver got out of the vehicle, took a shelf from the passenger side, and set it on the ground.

By 7:25 a.m., construction workers had arrived at the site and realized several electric and hand tools had been stolen and had contacted police. The value of the stolen tools was estimated to be $7,830.95.

On Jan. 6, 2024, one of the construction workers noticed one of the stolen saws appeared on Facebook Marketplace under the name “Trisha Mierek.”

Crestwood police located the silver Ford Explorer used in the theft, parked outside the home of Trisha C. Christensen. Mierek is Christensen’s maiden name.

Police claim to have surveillance video from Christensen’s home that shows her arriving back home just after 1:35 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2023, and bringing several construction tools from her SUV inside the residence. Most of the stolen tools were found inside Christensen’s bedroom.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Christensen with second-degree burglary and stealing – $750 or more. She was jailed on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
