77-year-old man dies after crashing into parked car in Campbellsport

CAMPBELLSPORT – A 77-year-old man died Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash on Main Street near Elm Street in Campbellsport.

Wayne R. Lemke, of Campbellsport, was driving westbound on Main Street in a pickup truck when his vehicle struck an unoccupied, legally parked pickup truck on the north side of the road, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.

After striking the parked vehicle, Lemke's truck flipped and he was trapped under the vehicle. The Fond du Lac County Communication Center was contacted around 3:46 p.m. Campbellsport firefighters removed Lemke from the vehicle and attempted life-saving efforts. He was transported to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, the sheriff's department said it is believed Lemke had a medical-related emergency that caused him to crash into the parked vehicle.
