I-75 lanes back open after Venice brush fire causes shut down

VENICE, Fla. - A Venice brush fire caused delays for hours on I-75 near Laurel Road Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers and emergency workers were monitoring the brush fire, which was near I-75 lanes, south of Laurel Road in Venice.

FHP was diverting traffic from the southbound lanes of I-75 at the Laurel Road exit, which caused major backups in the area. Cameras showed law enforcement blocking off all lanes as traffic moved off the interstate.

Late Monday evening, troopers reopened those southbound lanes on I-75.
