I-75 closed in Lexington, Ky., after truck wreck

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Officials say Interstate 75 was shut down in Lexington, Ky., and some residents were advised to stay indoors after a truck containing hazardous material wrecked and overturned.

News media in Lexington report the situation developed Friday night after a crash involving a tractor-trailer, a police cruiser and a car.

Fire officials told WKYT (http://bit.ly/1fkqHtA ) the truck was carrying hazardous material, believed to be corrosive. People living on three nearby streets were asked to stay inside their homes while emergency response crews determined what was in the truck.

The station reports a Lexington police officer was helping a driver on the side of I-75 when the truck hit one of the cars. The officer and the woman he was helping were both hospitalized.
