74-year-old pedestrian critically injured in CT when car hits her; driver stays at scene

An elderly pedestrian was critically injured when she was struck by a car Friday night in Manchester, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road near Buckland Street at 9:03 p.m. Friday and found that a car had collided with a pedestrian in the westbound lane, according to the Manchester Police Department.

The pedestrian, a 74-year-old woman, suffered “severed, life-threatening injuries” and was taken to Hartford Hospital where she was in critical condition, police said.

The driver, a 57-year-old East Hartford man, remained on scene and was cooperating with investigators, police said.

The crash was under investigation by the police department’s traffic unit and the Metro Traffic Services reconstruction team.
