71-year-old, 21-year-old identified as Central City homicide victims

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victims shot and killed in Central City on Thursday, April 18.
Around 4:20 a.m., the New Orleans Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard where two men, 71-year-old Douglas Patterson and 21-year-old Dalton Reeder, were found shot to death.
Man shoots himself inside Tulane School of Medicine, causing closure
During the investigation, officers said 22-year-old Ronnell Reeder surrendered to police in reference to the shooting.
Ronnell was taken in for questioning. He was later issued an arrest warrant. He faces two counts of second-degree murder.
NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick responded to the scene to give further details and comments on the incident. She said the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack.

She added that residents do not have to fear that there is someone in the community shooting at random.
The NOPD has a history with the home, according to Kirkpatrick.
The shooting remains under investigation.
