7 people displaced after fire at Las Cruces apartment complex

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A fire at a Las Cruces apartment complex damaged two homes and displaced seven residents on Sunday afternoon, April 28, the Las Cruces Fire Department said.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Las Cruces firefighters were called out on a report of a fire at Willow Brook Mars Townhomes at 2200 Mars Ave. Crews arrived to find flames coming from the roof of one section of the complex.

Firefighters pinpointed the fire to an attic. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to adjacent homes and it was brought under control in minutes, Las Cruces Fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
