The 7 Best Moments from the 2016 Global Citizen Festival

Yesterday, 60,000 change-makers descended on N.Y.C.'s Central Park for the fifth-ever Global Citizen Festival, an annual music event created in cahoots with the U.N. that aims to end extreme poverty by 2030. This year's show brought us Chris Martin, Rihanna (late), and do-good fashion, too (eco-friendly jewelry brand Alex and Ani had an on-site activation with proceeds going toward the initiative). Anyone can get a free ticket by performing charity acts on Global Citizen's website, including tweeting, emailing politicians, and signing petitions. Here are the seven moments you may have missed.

1. Usher, wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with "Silence is Consent," teamed up with Panamanian musician-politician Ruben Blades and the Kenyan Boys Choir to perform his hit song "Champions."

2. A very pregnant Olivia Wilde took the stage to introduce Kendrick Lamar and announce how many people have been helped so far by Global Citizen's efforts: 199,464,558.

3. Kendrick Lamar performed in front of a screen with multimedia bits, including quotes from singer and producer George Clinton and images of former president Ronald Reagan.

4. Eddie Vedder and Chris Martin joined forces for a surprise three-song set that included Pearl Jam's "Nothingman," Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over," and Patti Smith's "People Have The Power." "Use your voices, use your vote, and together we can use our power for good," Vedder told the crowd.

5. Priyanka Chopra called the refugee crisis "one of the most defining issues in our lifetime" before introducing South Sudanese British model Alek Wek, who fled to Britain in 1991 to escape the civil war in Sudan.

6. Chris Martin performed an impromptu cover of Prince's "Raspberry Beret" because Rihanna needed more time before her headlining act.

7. Rihanna closed out the show with an epic medley of her greatest hits, including "Work," "Umbrella," and "We Found Love." Before launching into "Take Care," she told the audience, "I don't wanna see you on your cell phones, unless you're taking pictures of me."
