7’4″ basketball player makes history at UWO-FDL in program’s final season

(WFRV) – In its final season as a basketball program, UWO-Fond du Lac not only won the WCC Tournament Championship for the first time in over 40 years – the Falcons rostered the conference player of the year.

7’4″ Chandler Batchelor, Dodgeville native, averaged 24.8 points per game to go along with 15 rebounds and 5.8 blocks per contest while shooting 71% from the field. In the WCC Tournament Championship game, the freshman scored 34 points and recorded 14 rebounds and 7 blocks.

With UWO-Fond du Lac’s basketball program being discontinued due to the university closing in-person instruction, Batchelor’s collegiate playing career has to be continued elsewhere.

In front of a group of family, friends, teammates, coaches, and supporters – Batchelor announced on Tuesday afternoon that he will continue his playing career at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri. Batchelor becomes the first player ever from UWO-Fond du Lac to receive a division one full-ride scholarship.
