63-year-old to spend at least 15 years in prison for drug charges

BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A 63-year-old in Bradford County is going to spend at least 15 years in prison for two dozen drug-related crimes.

On Friday, the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office announced that 63-year-old Leslie John Bailey, from Towanda, was sentenced to a minimum of 189 months (15.75 years) to 456 months (38 years) in prison.

Investigators say Bailey was selling methamphetamine, suboxone, and oxycodone out of his home in Towanda Borough.

On January 25, a jury found Bailey guilty of nine counts of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, nine counts of possessing those same drugs, as well as five counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.

“I am satisfied that the defendant will be well into his 70’s before he is eligible for release from state prison,” Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson said in a release. “Bailey’s criminal history stretches back to 1980, and he reported to the court before sentencing that he has never held a job in his lifetime. It was apparent that Bailey’s only ‘occupation’ was that of (a) criminal.”

Wilson says Bailey received separate sentences for each crime and will be required to serve them consecutively.

Wilson thanked the Bradford County Drug Task Force for their help in this investigation at the end of his statements.
