My 600-lb life star Lisa Fleming dies aged 50

From Digital Spy

Lisa Fleming, who made an infamous appearance on My 600-lb Life earlier this year, has died at the age of 50.

During her appearance on the show, which began in 2012, she weighed over 700lbs and had maggots living in the folds of her skin. Multiple paramedics moved her to the Houston clinic of TV surgeon Dr Younan Nowzaradan.

In her episode she was accused of being uncooperative and trying to 'manipulate' the system, and was not offered treatment by the episode's conclusion.

TMZ has spoken to Fleming's daughter Danielle, who says that her passing has nothing to do with her weight, and that she had lost 200lbs since her episode aired.

Danielle explained that Lisa suffered from multiple illnesses before filming, and those illnesses are what led to her death on Thursday (August 23).

"At the end she was sick and her body was tired and her body just gave out," Danielle said.

Danielle also shared a message on Facebook, saying that she was at a "loss for words right now".

Multiple patients who have appeared on My 600-lb Life have passed away since appearing on the show. Henry Foots, who featured in season one, died of an illness unrelated to his weight in 2013. Robert Buchel actually died while filming his episode in late 2017, while James Bonner died earlier this month.

TLC airs My 600lb Life in the US, while the show has aired on both Quest Red and Really in the UK.
