As we’ve seen with news of Hidden Figures dominating at the box office, a film that is finally telling the stories of three incredibly important Black women, history has been whitewashed for far too long. Many of the well-known activists involved in the Civil Rights Movement have had their legacies preserved, though often edited to fit a less radical narrative — and lesser-known activists involved have had their stories erased completely.
