500 syringes with needles found on pedestrian bridge near Del Norte High School
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A large pile of syringes with needles were found on the pedestrian bridge that students frequently use to get to and from Del Norte High School, according to Albuquerque Public Schools.
The syringes were found Wednesday morning. APS Police notified the city, and a Parks and Recreation Department employee who collects sharps was sent to pick them up. A spokesperson for the department said the employee collected 500 syringes on the city-maintained bridge that spans over Montgomery Boulevard NE.

APS said the syringes were picked up within an hour after APS police were notified and contacted the city. A parent told KRQE News 13 that their child, who is a student, found the syringes and sent her a photo of them around 8:27 a.m.
Officials with the city and APS are unsure how the needles got there. APS said that no students were injured.
