CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. — A 13-year-old is dead and a 14-year-old boy is in the hospital after a 50-year-old man stabbed both of them because of an argument, according to the Chicago Heights Police Department.

Oronde Hardy, 50, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and another count of attempted murder by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Wednesday.

CHPD said they were called to the 1500 block of Hanover Street around 3:50 p.m. Monday, where arriving officers found a 13-year-old teen and a 14-year-old boy with apparent stab wounds.

The 13-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where they later died, while the 14-year-old boy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries.
