5 Stars Who Made Fun Of Their Divorces

Divorce is no laughing matter, but that hasn't stopped celebrities from poking fun at their splits.

From twice-divorced Robin Williams'famous quote, "Ah, yes, divorce...from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man's genitals through his wallet," to Mickey Roony'sequally snarky, "A lot of people have asked me how short I am. Since my last divorce, I think I'm about $100,000 short," celebrities illustrate that laughter is really the best post-split medicine. Russell Brand

After just over a year of marriage, Russell Brand <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2011/12/30/katy-perry-divorce-russell-brand/" target="_hplink">filed to divorce</a> Katy Perry in December 2011.  In his opening monologue as host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Brand <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1686401/russell-brand-host-monologue-mtv-movie-awards.jhtml" target="_hplink">made light of the split</a>: "Last time I did an MTV show I ended up marrying someone," he said, referring to <a href="http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-06-04/news/32037250_1_russell-brand-mtv-movie-awards-show-kris-humphries" target="_hplink">his meeting ex-wife Perry</a> at an MTV Video Music Awards rehearsal in 2009. "Tonight I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for my next wife."

George Lopez

George Lopez's wife, Ann Serrano, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/24/comedian-george-lopezs-wi_n_788352.html" target="_hplink">filed for divorce</a> in November 2010 after 7 years of marriage. Several months later, on his since-cancelled talk show "Lopez Tonight," the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7UllJgF8UI" target="_hplink">comedian joked about his split with guest Camille Grammer</a>: "Let's go through a couple of things that are happening. Let's see. You have a new cable show, you're getting divorced,  and there's no pre-nup...Wait a minute...that's me."

Zooey Deschanel

"New Girl" actress Zooey Deschanel <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2012/01/zooey-deschanel-divorce-ben-gibbard.html" target="_hplink">filed for divorce</a> from Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard in December 2011.      A couple of months later, as host of the Writers Guild of America awards, Deschanel <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/zooey_deschanel_to_men_at_the_writers_wzbYKb1ZIl2j2u3ikiXSYK" target="_hplink">made light of her newly single status</a>. "Welcome to Nerd Prom," she said. "Male writers, you are so hot with your minds and plaid shirts. Hit on me."

Courteney Cox

"Cougar Town" leading lady Courteney Cox <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20433530,00.html" target="_hplink">announced her split</a> from husband David Arquette in October 2010. Both parties <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/courteney-cox-files-divorce-papers-same-day-as-david-arquette-2012136" target="_hplink">filed for divorce</a> in June 2012.   When <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/06/13/courteney-cox-divorce-papers-david-arquette/" target="_hplink">TMZ cameras approached Cox</a> about Arquette's decision to file divorce docs, she sarcastically responded, "He diiiiid? Oh my god, I didn't know."

Craig Ferguson

Twice-divorced late-night host Craig Ferguson's first <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/scottishnews/4060285/Craign-Ferguson-lands-TV-deal-From-alcoholic-on-brink-of-suicide-to-16m-a-year-chat-show-king-how-boy-from-Cumbernauld-conquered-America.html" target="_hplink">marriage to Anne Hogarth</a> ended in 1986, and his second -- to <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/scottishnews/4060285/Craign-Ferguson-lands-TV-deal-From-alcoholic-on-brink-of-suicide-to-16m-a-year-chat-show-king-how-boy-from-Cumbernauld-conquered-America.html" target="_hplink">Sascha Corwin, whom he wed in in 1998</a> -- <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/scottishnews/4060285/Craign-Ferguson-lands-TV-deal-From-alcoholic-on-brink-of-suicide-to-16m-a-year-chat-show-king-how-boy-from-Cumbernauld-conquered-America.html" target="_hplink">ended in 2004</a>.      In his 2009 book <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/American-Purpose-Improbable-Adventures-Unlikely/dp/0061719544" target="_hplink">American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot</a></em>, Ferguson took a humorous jab at divorce lawyers: "Divorce lawyers stoke anger and fear in their clients, knowing that as long as the conflicts remain unresolved the revenue stream will keep flowing.  I like to believe there is an extra warm corner of hell for these f***ers who traffic in emotional misery."
