After just over a year of marriage, Russell Brand filed to divorce Katy Perry in December 2011. In his opening monologue as host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Brand made light of the split: "Last time I did an MTV show I ended up marrying someone," he said, referring to his meeting ex-wife Perry at an MTV Video Music Awards rehearsal in 2009. "Tonight I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for my next wife."
George Lopez
George Lopez's wife, Ann Serrano, filed for divorce in November 2010 after 7 years of marriage. Several months later, on his since-cancelled talk show "Lopez Tonight," the comedian joked about his split with guest Camille Grammer: "Let's go through a couple of things that are happening. Let's see. You have a new cable show, you're getting divorced, and there's no pre-nup...Wait a minute...that's me."
Zooey Deschanel
"New Girl" actress Zooey Deschanel filed for divorce from Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard in December 2011. A couple of months later, as host of the Writers Guild of America awards, Deschanel made light of her newly single status. "Welcome to Nerd Prom," she said. "Male writers, you are so hot with your minds and plaid shirts. Hit on me."
Courteney Cox
"Cougar Town" leading lady Courteney Cox announced her split from husband David Arquette in October 2010. Both parties filed for divorce in June 2012. When TMZ cameras approached Cox about Arquette's decision to file divorce docs, she sarcastically responded, "He diiiiid? Oh my god, I didn't know."
