5-year-old flown to hospital after scooter hits SUV

BLAKESLEE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A five-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after crashing into an SUV while on his scooter Monday evening.

According to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, on Monday around 6:22 p.m., officers were called to an incident involving a child on a scooter in Blakeslee.

Police say a 5-year-old boy riding a scooter could not stop before arriving at the intersection on Matthews Drive and Kirtley Court.

Driver wanted in hit-and-run investigation in Dallas Twp.

According to investigators, while the victim was pulling up to the intersection he hit the rear bumper of an SUV being driven by a 47-year-old woman.

The child was flown from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar-Crest.

Chagres have not been filed against the driver and police did not say the victim’s current condition.
