5-year-old boy fatally struck by driver in Queens: NYPD

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 5-year-old boy was fatally struck by a driver in the College Point neighborhood of Queens Saturday evening, according to police.

Police responded to a 911 call near 20-19 124th St. a few minutes past 6 p.m., authorities said. A witness told PIX11 News they found the child under the car’s tire.

The driver of the Honda was traveling south on 124th Street when the boy ran into the street, police said. The boy suffered head injuries and was taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

The police said the driver remained at the scene. It was not clear if the driver would face charges.
