5 Good Friday services to attend in Albuquerque

Mar. 22—In Christian tradition, Good Friday is the day when Jesus died on the cross. It is a time of somber reflection before the celebration of the resurrection on Easter Sunday.

If you are looking for a place to attend a Good Friday service, here are five churches in the area offering them.

To compile this list, I sorted through pages of businesses on Google and social media in search of Easter events around town.

Calvary Church

This church will host two Good Friday services, and a blood drive in partnership with Vitalant. If you would like to donate blood, reserve a spot here.

LOCATION: 4001 Osuna NE

HOURS: Services are at noon and at 6:30 p.m. The blood drive will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m March 29

St. John's Methodist Church

This Good Friday service of darkness, will have a reading of the Passion narrative. There will be music from Chancel Choir of St. John's Methodist Church as well as special guest musicians. Interested individuals can attend in-person or watch a live stream online.

HOURS: 7:30 p.m. March 29

Our Lady of Fatima

This Good Friday service will have Stations of the Cross, the Divine Mercy Novena and the celebration of the Lord's Passion and Veneration of the Cross.

HOURS: Stations of the Cross begins at 3 p.m and Veneration of the Cross begins at 6 p.m. March 29

San Ignacio Catholic Church

This church will host a Good Friday confession, a Passion of Christ Communion service and Veneration of the Cross.

HOURS: Confession at 5 p.m., the Passion of Christ Communion service starts at 6 p.m. March 29

Citizens Church

This church will host two Good Friday services.
