5 Firefighters Hurt In Massive Kensington Blaze, FDNY Says

Five firefighters were injured battling a four-alarm fire on Coney Island Avenue early Wednesday morning, said the FDNY.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN -- Five firefighters were injured battling a massive blaze that sparked in a tire shop on Coney Island Avenue Monday morning, the FDNY said.

The four-alarm fire erupted inside Tire Spot "N" Breaks on Coney Island Avenue near Church Avenue at about 3:30 a.m., said the FDNY.

It took almost 170 firefighters to put out the flames in the three-story mixed-occupancy building by about 7 a.m., according to the FDNY.

Five firefighters were treated for minor injuries at Maimonides Hospital.
