49ers’ Dre Greenlaw carted off after freak injury

LAS VEGAS (KRON) — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw appeared to suffer a freak injury at the Super Bowl. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the injury is believed to be a torn Achilles.

In the second quarter, CBS showed Greenlaw running out to take the field before collapsing and grabbing his leg. Greenlaw was carted off the field.

CBS reported that Greenlaw was emotional coming off the field and was unable to put weight on his leg.

Greenlaw contributed three tackles before leaving with his injury. He intercepted two passes in the 49ers’ Divisional Round win over the Green Bay Packers.

Greenlaw is in his fifth year with the 49ers after being drafted in the 5th round out of the University of Arkansas. He started 15 games in the regular season and made 120 total tackles.
