42-year-old faces terrorism charges for Oslo gay bar shooting
The trial of a man accused of attacking a gay bar in Oslo has begun in the Norwegian capital, local media reported on Tuesday.
The 44-year-old is charged with serious terrorism offences, according to the NTB news agency.
He is accused of shooting dead two people and wounding nine others in Oslo on June 25, 2022, shortly before a planned Pride parade.
Many more people were injured in the chaos that followed the attack.
The suspected attacker was overpowered by witnesses and was subsequently arrested by the police.
The Norwegian secret service has treated the incident as an Islamist terrorist attack.
Four other people are accused of aiding and abetting terrorism in the case. However the investigations against them have not yet been finalized.
The main defendant, a Norwegian with an Iranian family background, has denied the accusations.
