41 pounds of meth seized in Arapahoe County drug bust

DENVER (KDVR) — The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office reported it seized 41 pounds of meth and various other substances after an undercover drug buy led to an arrest.

The sheriff’s office said the operation took place on May 17, when the department’s Special Investigations Unit set up an undercover drug sting to buy six pounds of methamphetamine.

The suspect was allegedly supplying drugs within Arapahoe County and Centennial. An undercover investigator met the suspect at a motel in the 6700 block of South Galena Street. The sheriff’s office said members of the SWAT team were on standby.

At around 5 p.m., the suspect arrived and approached the undercover investigator, according to the sheriff’s office. SWAT deputies then conducted a vehicle takedown and the suspect was then arrested without further incident.

A K-9 conducted a sniff of the suspect’s vehicle and it allegedly indicated the presence of drugs. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and a hotel room the suspect was staying at.

During the search, 41 pounds of meth, 33,000 fentanyl pills, 1.5 pounds of heroin and a pound of cocaine were found. A semiautomatic handgun and $113,000 in cash was also found, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect will be charged with multiple drug and weapons charges and was in custody at the Arapahoe County Jail and was being held on a $250,000 bond.
