400-acre controlled Georgetown County burn brings smoke into southern Horry County

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A prescribed burn in Georgetown County brought smoke into southern Horry County on Wednesday, Horry County Fire Rescue said.

The 400-acre burn is in the Sandy Island area of Georgetown County, HCFR said. Smoke was visible in the Socastee area.

The burn is one of the biggest controlled blazes in South Carolina right now.
