4 USA Health physicians named Exceptional Women in Medicine 2024

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Women’s History Month just ended, but four USA Health physicians are still making history after they were named Exceptional Women in Medicine for 2024.

The nominations were issued by Castle Connolly, a source providing information on the trusted doctors in the United States, which is considered “the only legitimate recognized category of excellence in American Medicine.”

According to a press release, the Exceptional Women in Medicine list recognizes Castle Connolly female doctors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, expertise, and dedication in their fields.

The following USA Health physicians received the recognition, according to the release.

  • LaDonna M. Crews “a physician who specializes in complex care pediatrics at USA Health”

  • Donna Lynn Dyess “is a breast and endocrine surgeon at USA Health and a professor of surgery at the Whiddon College of Medicine.”

  • Karen A. Fagan “who is triple board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine and pulmonary disease, is an accomplished clinician and researcher at USA Health. She is a professor of internal medicine and pharmacology at the Whiddon College of Medicine, director of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care and director of the pulmonary hypertension center at USA Health, which she helped establish after moving to Alabama.”

  • Felicia L. Wilson “is a professor of pediatrics at the Whiddon College of Medicine, where she also has served as director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.”
