4-year-old dies after being hit by car in Tioga County NY

BARTON, N.Y. (WETM) — A 4-year-old child is dead after an incident in Tioga County, NY, where police say their tricycle was hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening.

According to New York State Police, sometime after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, a motorist was driving on Old Barton Road in Barton when the 4-year-old child went into the road on their tricycle and was hit by the vehicle.

Police said that the child was riding the tricycle in their driveway before going into the road and being hit by the car. Police said that the motorist was unable to avoid the child, and the child died at the scene.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
