4 Okaloosa County parks fail water quality tests: FDOH

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County advises against participating in water-related activities at four local parks due to water-quality concerns, according to a press release.

Monday’s tests reportedly indicated that the water quality did not meet recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.

Due to the test results, DOH-Okaloosa County issued a water quality advisory for the following locations:

  • Clement E. Taylor Park (131 Calhoun Ave., Destin, FL 32541)

  • Lincoln Park (1217 N. Bayshore Drive, Valparaiso, FL 32580)

  • James Lee Park (3510 Scenic Highway 98, Destin, FL 32541)

  • Rocky Bayou State Park (4281 E. Highway 20, Niceville, FL 32578)

Officials say the advisory will be in place until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results for these areas are available on Florida Health’s website, according to the release.
