4.7-inch iPhone 6 Coming in August, 5.5-inch in September (Report)

The iPhone 6 could be coming early. According to a report from Taiwanese sources, the purported 4.7-inch model of Apple's may hit stores as soon as this August, a month earlier than Apple's traditional September launch for new iPhones.

Based on this report, a larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will follow in September. This is consistent with previous rumors we've heard, which claimed that production on the bigger variation of Apple's iPhone 6 was being delayed due to issues manufacturing the device's battery. Fortunately, it's looking like those who are holding out for a phablet-sized iPhone won't have to wait much longer than folks opting for the smaller version.

With its potential release dates only months away, the iPhone 6 rumor mill continues to churn. The handset is still expected to sport a zippy A8 processor and super-strong sapphire crystal display, and may launch in tandem with Apple's iOS 8 operating system. Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 6 is expected to retain the 5s' Touch ID feature, which may extend to the iPad Air and Mini this year.

This could be a big year for the iPhone, and it has to be. With phones like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 delivering stellar Android experiences early in the year, a duo of bigger and more powerful iPhones might be just what Apple needs to stay on top.
