37-year-old man fatally shot in Fort Pierce over the weekend, police said

FORT PIERCE − Police are investigating a shooting Sunday that left a 37-year-old man dead, according to Fort Pierce Police.

Fort Pierce Police about 7:29 p.m. Sunday went to the area of North 24th Street and Canal Terrace following a shooting, the agency stated on social media. The location is west of U.S. 1 and just south of Avenue D.

Investigators determined an “unknown person” approached the 37-year-old man, who sustained a gunshot wound.

The 37-year-old man, whose name and city of residence were not immediately available, was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce where he was pronounced dead.
