Iran launched approximately 350 rockets and drones, carrying 60 tons of explosives, into Israel in a mass attack on April 13, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) representative, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said at a press conference on April 14, The Times of Israel reported.

The attack could have caused enormous damage, he said, however, only a few Iranian missiles penetrated Israel’s territory, causing minor damage to Israel's Nevatim Air Force Base.

Israel and its allies managed to intercept 99% of Iran's missile and drone strike on April 13, the IDF said.

Iran's plan failed, said the IDF official.

“We are still going through an important operational day after repelling the Iranian attack. We have assessed and approved defensive and offensive plans in the last few hours," he added.

Iran's massive attack on Israel

Over the past few days, Israel and the United States have prepared for Iran to attack Israel in retaliation for the strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, for which Iran blames Israel. High-ranking Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps officials were killed in the strike.

Iran conducted the expected attack late on April 13, launching hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel.

31 people sought medical assistance.

Israel's partners also helped repel the attack. The United States intercepted more than 70 UAVs and three ballistic missiles in the Iranian attack.

Ukraine condemned the massive attack on Israel, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry also "strongly condemned" Iran's mass attack on Israel, calling it absolutely unacceptable and irresponsible earlier on April 14.

The Iranian attack on Israel is similar to those that Russia has repeatedly launched against Ukraine, the Institute for the Study of War said, noting that Iran was likely determining the best way to break through Western-style air and missile defenses.

Several Iranian airports, including Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, canceled all flights until April 15.

U.S. President Joe Biden has tried to persuade Israel not to respond to the Iranian attack so as not to escalate the conflict in the Middle East, The New York Times newspaper wrote.
