$32,000 rifle stolen from northeast Kansas vault

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Police in northeast Kansas are asking for help from the public in finding the individual behind a recent theft from a Manhattan vault.

The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced in a recent crime overview that a theft was reported around 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 in the 800 block of Poyntz Avenue. Police investigating the situation listed an 87-year-old woman as the victim of the crime.

The woman told police a Holland & Holland Rifle worth $32,000 was stolen from a vault where it was being stored. Police ask anyone with information related to this theft to contact Manhattan-Riley County Crime Stoppers to submit anonymous tips by going online or calling 785-539-7777.
