Looking for a safe place to raise a child? There's a list for that.

The 30 safest cities to raise a child in the U.S. are found in only 12 states, according to a new report from home security system-ranking website Safewise. The safest place in America to raise a kid is Carmel, Indiana. Safewise said the city puts an "emphasis on its smallest residents -- and infrastructure," including award-winning schools and exceptionally high graduation rates.

Second place goes to Fishers, Indiana. Due to its low crime rate, parents are able to enjoy a variety of activities with their little ones, like festivals and community family game nights, according to the report.

Other places in the top five are Greenwich, Connecticut, Irvine, California, and Middletown Township, New Jersey, respectively. More than half of the safest places on the list are in New Jersey and Connecticut.

To create the list, the group analyzed violent crime data from the most recent FBI Crime Report, sex offender populations, state graduation rates and school rankings. They also looked for unique kid-friendly programs. The study eliminated all cities with fewer than 10,000 residents and cities that failed to submit a crime report.

Safewise has a list of the 100 safest cities in the U.S., based on different criteria.
