BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — T’Vondre Sweat claimed his audience would be amazed when he ran his 40.

That’s exactly what happened.

Sweat, the Texas Longhorns defensive tackle posted a 5.27 40-yard dash at the scouting combine further solidifying himself as a top defensive tackle in the draft. Sweat was the Big 12 defensive player of the year and Outland Trophy winner as the nation’s top interior lineman. Byron Murphy played on the defensive line with Sweat at Texas.

“It was a blessing to play with him playing with a guy like that it makes it easier for me and I make it easier for him,” said Murphy. “Each and every day we pushed each other to be great, we competed every day.”

The 366-pound Sweat has a rare combination of size and athleticism that NFL teams covet. He’s also got a big personality and a nickname to match, one that he got while growing up in Texas.

“Her name is Ms. Ebony, big shoutout to her because she’s the one who started it. It actually started at a basketball game, she’s like, ‘Let’s go loaf, that’s going to be your nickname’, I was like, ‘Alright’. Other than that it’s been loaf, big loaf, anything loaf,” said Sweat.

When you’re that size, you would imagine that there would be a high level of meatloaf intake.

“I’m not a fan, but I like the name.”

Sweat passes on the meatloaf, however, it’s tough to see many teams will pass on him during the draft. T’Vondre is projected to be a late first or early second round pick.
