3 unconnected shootings, 4 injuries, 1 death hit Columbia over weekend

Three shots fired incidents from from Friday through Sunday do not seem to have connections.

Columbia police responded at about 12:30 p.m. Friday to the 3400 block of Clark Lane finding Louis W. Hart, 56, with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment, but later died at the hospital. Next of kin were notified.

Officers learned of a second adult male victim during the investigation. He was was taken to a hospital for treatment by a private vehicle. Investigations indicate the two men were shooting at each other.

Police at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday responded to the 1700 Block of Paris Road finding two adult males with nonlife-threatening injuries. Both men were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Police believe a large fight happened, where many were armed, in the leadup to the shooting. Columbia police were assisted by the Ashland Police Department, Boone County Sheriff's Department and Missouri Highway Patrol.

Roughly an hour and 20 minutes later, police responded at 3 a.m. to the 10 block of South Ninth Street for the third reported shooting incident.

Police learned that a fight of some sort broke out at around 2 a.m. at South Ninth and Broadway. By 3 a.m. a female passenger in a vehicle near the disturbance was hit and sustained a nonlife-threatening injury. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Tanikya Dunn, 19, of Sikeston, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and armed criminal action; Kalvin Johnson, 20, of Columbia, suspicion of three counts of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action; and Jearlissia Jackson, 18, of Columbia, on suspicion of first-degree assault. Further court records were not yet available by publication Monday.

Columbia police were assisted Ashland Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
